About Hy Spec Services

Hy Spec Services Ltd was established in 1993 and provides a comprehensive industrial painting service. As one of Scotland's leading industrial painting contractors, we are extremely proud of the standard of our work.

We specialise in protecting and rust-proofing bridges, motorway gantries, water tanks, handrails and bannisters.

We are a well established and respected company working for many Scottish council areas as well as civil engineering and petrochemical companies.

The Management Team

Jordan Sammutt

Operations Director

Jordan has been working for Hy Spec since 2013 and became Operations Director of Hy Spec Services in

2019 and he is a qualified Quantity Surveyor and is responsible for pricing and organising work.

Jordan is qualified to ICORR Level 1 Paint inspection, holds a PTS card, CSCS card and is ICATS certified.


Aaron Sammutt

Technical Director

Aaron is a chartered Civil Engineer with over 5 years of design experience. He can offer technical advise and is developing the business.

Aaron holds a NEBOSH qualification and deals with health and safety. He also holds a PTS card, CSCS card and is ICATS certified.


James Proudfoot

Contracts Manager

James is responsible for the operatives and sites, and with over 27 years experience in the industry James ensures a high standard on every project.

James is qualified to ICORR Level 2 paint inspection. He also holds a PTS card and is ICATS certified. James is also an ICATS Trainer and carries out inhouse training.


Ryan Sharp

Contracts Supervisor

Ryan is responsible fort the operatives and sites, and has over 10 years experience in the industry.

Ryan holds a PTS card, CSCS card and is ICATS certified. Ryan is a qualified blaster and sprayer, and his ICATS certificates includes the blasting and spraying modules. Ryan also has his ICORR Level 1 Paint Inspector qualification. 


Accreditation

Hy Spec are committed to quality and recognise the need to invest in training to meet the competency and quality levels set by our customers. All of our workforce is ICATS (Industrial Coatings Applicator Training Scheme) qualified, which has helped Hy Spec to become one of the first Scottish contractors to achieve the National Highway Sector Scheme 19A  for corrosion protection (NHSS 19A). This is a mandatory requirement on all Highways Agency projects. 


The majority of our workforce also hold Network Rail PTS cards. The track record of railway work has helped Hy Spec to achieve RISQS accreditation.


We are a Quality Assured Company ISO 9001:2015 status, a member of Constructionline and accredited by CHAS (Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme).
